Keila (Kicking Elk In Land of Arapaho)

Keila has found new home with a great family in Wakeeney!

Keila's original name was Maggie.  She was purchased before she was born in June of 2007.  She was from Makenzie and Thaiden's first litter.   I rescued Maggie at 3 1/2 months and she lived with me for 2 weeks before I found her a new home.  She was renamed Keila by her new family in Wichita.....

At 2 years I rescued Keila yet again.   I have never had to rescue one of my pups and thought I had a good filter on puppy inquiries, however, I didn't and had to rescue Keila, twice!

Her story has made me realize I need to  question, question, and question more.  I hope this will help millions like Keila so they don't have to go through what she has.   She is an amazing, beautiful, loving dog and through her trials she still loves so very, very much.

I can't stress enough that If you're looking for a puppy remember they are like a little 6 month old baby when you get them at 8 weeks, they require a lot of work, love, time, and money but the reward is so worth it.  In the end you have a faithful, loving, devoted companion, and how you interact with them and the time you spend with them does build their personalities and characters the exact same way as a baby.  If you neglect them it harms them the same way.  The difference is dogs do want to love you no matter what or how you treat them.  (which is so sad).

Keila is a prime example.  She was starving for love and attention when I got her at 2 yrs.  She left me at 8 weeks a loving, happy puppy and returned at 2 years a sad, lonely 2 year old.  She trusted me from the beginning which made her training easier and the more attention and love I gave her, the more love I got back ten fold.  She has grown so much in the 2 months I've worked with her.   She's 2 years old, and learning what she should've at 8 weeks.  I'm still amazed at her progress.....  She is amazing!  I can't wait to watch her progress.

I would like to thank those of you who inquired and wanted Keila, ...Thank you from my heart!   I was looking for the perfect fit for Keila, (finally) which I am hopeful I found.  She deserves a loving family.

I am going to keep a record of Keila's journey with her new family.  Follow her journey with me.  This is Keila's story.....

Maggie / Keila at 7+ weeks  She was always the quiet one (our exporer) and loved to be held and cuddled!

Keila on her way to her new home!

Keila now goes by Nova, here she is at day 3 resting in her new home and below playing in the backyard.  She is adjusting well and loving her new family.  She has a playmate, Tequila (hence the name change)a 6 yr old springer.

Notes from Nova's new family. 3 weeks into her new home.

Just an update. Nova is doing great. Tequila and nova are getting along good. Still using the bark collar but only when I sleep during day. She no longer barks at nite. Eating good and loves her treats. Starting to respond to her name.  Sitting and staying on command. Tequila is a momma to her -very protective of nova. She has definitely filled the emptiness of mandy. We love her. Thx!
